Social media marketing is no longer the wave of the future. It's the wave of the present. Candy retailers who fail to realize the power of social media in relation to their business are missing out on a key aspect of their overall digital marketing strategy. With a proper social media presence, candy retailers can achieve many of their business goals such as increased brand awareness, higher quality customer service, and stronger customer loyalty. Listed below are a few tips to help you improve your business' social media presence so you can take full advantage of everything that this facet of digital marketing has to offer.
1. Find Your Customers
There are a multitude of social media platforms out there and you may be tempted to get your business on all of them. This isn't necessarily the best plan. What you should do, is find out which platforms your customers and potential customers are on and be present on only those. Going full steam ahead on every platform will not only be time-consuming but will also be a waste of time if the audience you're trying to reach isn't there. Facebook is usually a safe bet for all businesses and since candy is very visual, Pinterest and Instagram could be good choices for your business as well.
2. Post!
One of the biggest mistakes that you can make on social media is having a profile that is not up to date or posted on. The last thing people want to see when they find your social media profile is that you haven't posted/updated it at all. It makes your business seem out of touch, behind the times and possibly even lazy. Not to mention that you've done nothing to entertain or provide helpful information so the end-user will feel like you've let them down because they came to you and you didn't provide them with anything of value. Post frequency is different for every business. The best thing to do is experiment with post frequency and timing and keep an eye on your analytics to see what's working best for you.
3. Engage
Social media is amazing in that it really gives you an opportunity to humanize your business. People are more likely to purchase from businesses that they feel a connection to. Creating a dialogue with your social media following humanizes your business and makes people feel more comfortable doing business with you. Engage with your followers by asking them questions, soliciting feedback, responding to reviews (both negative and positive ones), responding to comments, and responding to messages.
With these tips in hand, your business will be well on it's way to having a successful and beneficial social media presence.
